The need

Housing the mission, funding the mission

We host short-term mission teams each year who come to Thailand to help extend gospel access among unreached communities. As the ministry continued to grow, the need for affordable housing and long-term financial sustainability became increasingly clear. At the same time, supporting local missionaries and expanding outreach required new streams of income beyond traditional fundraising.

The idea

Hospitality with Kingdom purpose

By opening Red Panda Hostel & Café in Chiang Mai, Within Reach Global created a Business as Mission venture that serves both ministry and marketplace purposes. The hostel provides housing for short-term teams and also welcomes tourists and travelers in one of Thailand’s busiest tourism hubs. This model allows the ministry to retain lodging-related income, create recurring revenue through public bookings, and redirect those funds toward evangelism, discipleship, church planting, and the support of local missionaries among the unreached.

The impact

Where hospitality fuels gospel access

Red Panda Hostel & Café now serves as both a ministry hub and a revenue-generating business. It houses mission teams who are actively serving in outreach across Thailand, while its public bookings help generate ongoing financial support for indigenous missionaries and gospel-centered ministry.

The hostel helps fuel long-term ministry sustainability. By turning hospitality into mission, it strengthens Within Reach Global’s ability to invest in local leaders, expand outreach, and continue bringing the hope of Christ to communities with little or no access to the gospel.

You have questions

Everything you need to know

Within Reach Global opened Red Panda Hostel & Café to meet two important needs at once: housing for short-term mission teams and a sustainable source of income to support gospel outreach. By operating a hostel in Chiang Mai’s tourism market, the ministry is able to serve visiting teams while generating revenue that helps fund local missionaries and ministry expansion.

The hostel provides accommodations for short-term mission teams and other ministry guests serving with Within Reach Global. It also accepts bookings from tourists and public travelers, allowing the business to generate additional income that supports the ministry’s evangelism, discipleship, and church-planting efforts.

Revenue generated through Red Panda Hostel & Café helps fund indigenous missionaries serving among unreached communities in Thailand. Rather than relying solely on outside donations, the BAM model creates an additional stream of support that helps sustain local leaders who are sharing the gospel, discipling believers, and planting churches.

Business as Mission uses a legitimate business to create both economic and spiritual impact. Red Panda Hostel & Café operates as a real hospitality business in Chiang Mai while also helping advance gospel ministry by generating funds, creating sustainability, and supporting the long-term work of Within Reach Global among the unreached.

This project benefits multiple groups at once: short-term mission teams, ministry guests, local Thai staff, and the unreached communities reached through the ministry’s outreach efforts. Tourists and travelers also become part of the story, as their bookings help support gospel work taking place far beyond the hostel itself.

The hostel strengthens Within Reach Global’s long-term sustainability by turning hospitality into a source of ministry funding. It helps reduce dependence on fundraising alone, creates a practical asset for hosting teams, and produces revenue that can be reinvested into evangelism, discipleship, church planting, and indigenous missionary support.

Support a missionary

Send someone to the unreached

Indigenous missionaries are the key to reaching Thailand's spiritually poorest communities. They speak the language, know the culture, and stay for the long haul.

Your monthly gift fully supports a local Thai or Asian missionary — covering their living costs and freeing them to give their whole lives to the mission.

$650/ month fully supports one missionary

For more than two decades, Within Reach Global has combatted gospel poverty among the unreached — over 111,500 gospel encounters, 84 churches planted, and a growing movement of locally-led missionaries.
