David Joannes
David Joannes is the founder and CEO of Within Reach Global. He has spent three decades on the front lines of missions in Southeast Asia, trailblazing to places where there is no presence of the gospel.
He is the author of several books on missions and discipleship and the host of the Missions Pulse podcast.
His missionary journey began by smuggling Bibles into China, and over the years he has witnessed underground believers baptized, local missionaries raised up, and churches planted in some of the world’s hardest-to-reach places.
After 15 years in Southwest China, David now lives in Chiang Mai, Thailand, where he leads Within Reach Global alongside his wife, Lorna, and their two daughters.

Lorna Joannes serves alongside David as co-founder of Within Reach Global. Together they've built a movement of indigenous missionaries reaching unreached people groups across Thailand and beyond.
With a deep love for Jesus and a passion for discipleship, she is committed to seeing lives transformed through the gospel, believers strengthened in their faith, and local leaders equipped to make disciples in their own communities.
Lorna has played a vital role in advancing the ministry through discipleship, hospitality, prayer, encouragement, and hands-on leadership. Whether mentoring women, supporting missionaries, helping shape ministry strategy, or serving behind the scenes to strengthen the work, she carries a steady burden to see the unreached reached and the Church established where Christ is least known.
