Right now our visiting partner pastor from Northern California is teaching nearly 80 underground Christian leaders on the topic “Accessing The Favor Of God In A Hostile Environment.” They have come from all over the city and province to receive deeper Christian training as they march forward with the torch of the gospel. Over 10 underground churches are represented at our training.

These 80 underground Christian leaders of the persecuted Church are the true heroes of China. Yes, there are dangers as they march forward with the gospel; uncertainties of getting in trouble, being physically harmed, and even jailed simply for sharing the name of Jesus. But here they are, all gathered in an undisclosed location, listening intently, gathering every word and meditating on God’s calling over them.
The crackling sound of thin Bible pages flipping from chapter to chapter. Quiet whispers of excitement as the pastor shares inspiring testimonies. A hush, then a united “Amen!”
The underground Church is passionate about taking the gospel to the ends of the earth, and the devil is scared.
“You are a trailblazer! You are a pioneer!” our visiting pastor says. “You bring the light and living water to the unreached!” And then a cheer, like a sports event—much less “churchy” than we’re used to in the west. A cry of joy as God’s passion fills each leader. The underground Church is raw Christianity.
This is the first day of a two day training we are hosting. It is an honor as the persecuted Church trusts us by allowing us into their presence. They hang on every word, which humbles us even more, because they are the true heroes of this story.
“Don’t curse the darkness,” our visiting pastor says, “Just turn on the light. You are the light of the world.”
