You may remember Raein Gabrielle, an eight year old Filipina girl who has been having seizures for some time. We are supporting her medical needs, and just recently heard that she was struck with Dengue Fever. With her already struggling immune system, it was a scary time for her family.
Spread through mosquito bites, this virus claims the lives of thousands of children in the Philippines every year.
Just last week, Raein Gabrielle was hospitalized with an extreme case of Dengue Fever. She was placed in ICU, and her platelet count was decreasing every day. Her family was shaken and scared for her life. A child’s normal platelet count is about 140 to 400 (with a lot of extra zeros), and when the count falls below 20, internal bleeding is inevitable. Raein Gabrielle’s platelet count fell to 13. She was at a very dangerous state.
“Mommy, I want to go home,” she told her mother last week. “I am tired. I just want to be with Jesus.” Her whole family was crying and praying for a miracle.
That night, we could not sleep. Though we were far away from the Philippines, we prayed for her recovery. People all over the world were praying with us, and believing for a miracle for this precious little girl’s life. At 2:AM we were awake, lifting her situation up to God. “Lord, place your hands over Raein Gabrielle‘s body, in the name of Jesus,” we prayed.
At the same time, Raein Gabrielle’s father was praying over his daughter in Manila. As he laid hands on her and prayed, he felt his hand grow over her body. “It was like my whole hand stretched over her body, and she was covered,” he said.
At the same time in another location in Manila, Raein Gabrielle’s aunt saw a vision of a huge white angel walking through the corridors of the hospital to visit her niece.
The next morning, Raein Gabrielle was in a critical state. The doctors said they would give her two days to live through this time in ICU. If she recovered, it would be a miracle. Her platelet count was still at 13, and she should have started bleeding internally by now. But her vital signs began to get better. The doctors were amazed. The fact that her vital signs were increasing while her platelet count was so low was a miracle in itself.
The next morning, Raein Gabrielle was able to sit up and play, and was discharged from ICU. God’s large hands were truly on her the night that we all prayed together from around the world.
Dengue Fever is a serious virus, but God has spared Raein Gabrielle from death. We are rejoicing for this miracle, and are so thankful for all of you who have been praying for her as well.
Please pray for the finances to be able to pay for her medical needs. The needs seem like they are never ending, but God is faithful to provide for His children.
