Nearly two weeks of monsoon rains across Metro Manila and 16 surrounding provinces have left 850,000 people displaced in the Philippines.
About 60% of Manila and nearby provinces are still flooded. This is one of the worst floods in since the 1970s.
It has been tragic for thousands of people, and it’s time to take action.
Within Reach Global has been raising funds to help families in the damaged areas. Many are cut off from food and water supplies. Others have lost their homes and all their belonging. Some have even lost family members.
Through the generosity of faithful donors, we were able to help 40 families with nearly 4 days of food supplies.
We were so blessed that some of our pastor friends from China donated and helped distribute goods to needy people. In the midst of the Scarborough Shoal faceoff for resource-rich islands between China and the Philippines, believers overlook petty, humanistic conversations.
“We are the body of Christ,” they said. “We are called to love, and we love the Philippines!”
People from all around the world gave to Within Reach Global, and we are partnering with Intercessors For The Philippines to help send relief goods to flooded areas.
But the need is still huge. One of the hardly hit places is the province of Pampanga, where most of the rice plantation in Luzon Island is located. There are 14 municipalities that are in the greatest need for food, water, clothing and shelter. All the rice fields were destroyed. Flood waters remain until now. Only the tops of a few trees can be seen along the water world landscape.
There is presently another typhoon in the northern part of the Philippines, making it even more difficult for thousands of flood victim families to survive.
Please consider helping. Your donation of any amount will go along way in these flooded areas. Your church, small group or family, can also send clothing and shoes.
This is a great time to show the love of Jesus from right where you are.
