This is an update from our persecuted local missionaries at The Edge outreach center near Myanmar.

Persecution Is Still Very Real In The 21st Century

Preaching To Her Police Persecutors

It has been a battle in the heavenly realm—and even in the natural—when it comes to reaching these precious tribes. Please pray for us! Please pray for our local missionaries. They are bold and committed, but it can be overwhelming at times when the hand of persecution is heavy.

Here is Sister Li’s update.

We are happy to go back to The Edge region after months of severe persecution. We had mixed feelings returning. We were happy to see everyone, but sad because there are still many who are rejecting us, not welcoming us and practicing cults.

We went to visit some families. They let us share the gospel to them, but they are very stubborn, not wanting to accept the Lord. However, we are not losing hope. We believe the Lord will work in their hearts in his time.

We also met with most of the children we were ministering to before we were persecuted. However, the elders of the village didn’t want them to be with us for a long time and drove the kids away so they wouldn’t see us. They are accusing us of heresy and other bad things to deceive the children so that they wouldn’t be with us.

A visit to a paralyzed elderly woman who believed the Lord really touched our hearts. When she saw us she was so moved that she cried and worshipped the Lord right there and then. Another brother in the Lord was so surprised we came back to see him. His sick brother just died, and us being there at the right time was a huge encouragement to him.

There are many poor believers in the area that we are ministering to. By God’s grace and provision through some local churches in other provinces, we were able to give out clothing and toiletries. We also gathered some offering to give them money to buy food for their family. They were so grateful and happy for all the provision God gave through the body of Christ.

It was also amazing to have the opportunity to help the Wa and Han churches by providing them with training, books, Bibles, Sunday school materials, and toys for the children. They have such a willing heart to be trained and learn more about God. They are excited for us to see them again for another underground training.

See Facebook photos here.

There are a lot of orphans by the Burma border. There is no electricity in the areas they live, and the living condition is uncomfortable. We were able to give toys and clothing to the orphans, and also helped other local missionaries who are taking care of the children.

Please do pray for us. We were really nervous coming back because we know that the persecution will come again at any time. We were blessed to encourage all the brethren and give them some of their material needs. But we were more happy to see them hold on to the Lord despite the hardship they are facing as Christians. Although there are still many who are rejecting us, we believe the Lord will someday cause the seeds we planted to grow into eternal harvest!
