Project: Business as Mission Hostel – $55,000 (Completed)
Within Reach Global opened Red Panda Hostel & Cafe in October 2024 in a prime location in Chiang Mai, Thailand’s booming tourism industry. This hostel and coffee shop is open to the public and also serves as much-needed housing for visiting short-term mission teams, raising funds to support indigenous missionaries and extending gospel outreach in Thailand.
Generous donors helped Within Reach Global raise $55,000 to open Red Panda Hostel & Cafe in Chiang Mai, Thailand, in October 2024. This for-profit Business as Mission (BAM) venture was established through our sister company, Fusion Global Co. Ltd., allowing us to capitalize on Thailand’s thriving tourism industry and produce revenue to support local missionaries in Chiang Mai and other areas across Thailand. After almost 200 years of Protestant missionary work in Thailand, the future leaders of Thailand and its neighbors still await a gospel imprint, compelling us think outside the box to impact Thailand for Christ
To address these needs, Within Reach Global and our sister company, Fusion Global Co. Ltd., opened Red Panda Hostel & Cafe, which allows the ministry to retain finances generated from short-term mission teams and tourists. This Business as Mission (BAM) model has proved effective, with recurring reservations since its establishment. The business employs five Thai Christian staff and offers lovely accommodations for our visitors. The Red Panda coffee brand is also rising in popularity, with online five-star reviews and a strong presence in Chiang Mai.
Red Panda Hostel & Cafe provides accommodations for 200 short-term missionaries and 12 interns each year. Furthermore, the 28-bed capacity allows us to accept bookings from tourists and visitors, which increases our revenue and ability to generate capital for gospel outreach. The financial income generated allows us to reach Thai college students, underprivileged communities, tribal people groups, and rural villages in Thailand. The individuals, families, and communities we serve are some of Southeast Asia’s most unreached and unengaged people in the 10/40 Window, yet they are open to spiritual and societal change.
