My heart is moved.
I feel my heart beat within my chest.
I wish I could just reach into my screen and hug them.
There are about 61 million “left behind” children in China. One in five children nationally grow up without one or both of their parents.
“My father had to leave me for work when I was 2. He comes back to visit me once a year. Sometimes I don’t get to see him at all.” – Xiang Cheng Feng
“My mother passed away when I was very young and my father left the family for work. I’ve always wished to have a family and to live happily.” – Liu Yan Hua
Watching this video makes me angry and sad and contemplative.
Who sees these forgotten children?
Who do these children have to run to?
Who is there to scoop them up in their arms and say “I love you”?
“I heard that my father remarried in another town and he never returned since. I wish he would come home.” – Weng Bihua
At Within Reach Global, we have a similar ministry at one of our outreach centers. Lin, our local missionary, is caring for a group of orphans and left behind children. She is discipling them, raising them up to be men and women of God, teaching them how to share the love of God to their community through their brokenness.
It is a powerful ministry, and we need your prayer and financial help. Please consider making a donation to help us care for these precious children who need the love and care of a father and mother.
“Actually it’s not about how much you can do for these children, or how many of their problems you can solve. Most importantly, it’s about being there for them as they grow.” – Dream
You may not be able to reach through your computer screen to hug these children. But your hand outstretched can make an impact in their broken hearts.
May we learn to turn our empathy into compassion, to go and give and love a world that is hurting and in pain.
