Here’s a prime example. Watch this powerful video of a woman who has been hospitalized for nearly 6 months. She is from one of the most unreached regions of China. Oxygen tubes pump air into her nostrils while machines keep her heart pumping. She has stomach cancer. Our missionaries visited her in the hospital and instructed her husband to play worship music throughout the day. Miraculously, her strength is returning day by day!

In the midst of seeming darkness and distress, the Holy Spirit is there speaking words of life over her, singing comforting songs with heavenly intonations. The sound of Christian worship from a Gospel mp3 player fill the room. Our Chinese missionaries gifted this device to her family and it has served as a lifeline for this woman, her husband, and her children. “Please continue to pray for her full recovery,” our missionaries say. “We believe her healing will be a testimony to her whole community!”

So let’s reiterate. Why do we do what we do? Because the name of Jesus has not been heard in countless places around the globe, and we are certain about our calling to take the Gospel to places it has not been named, thus fulfilling the Great Commission. Here’s a little blurb about our niche in the missions world: 

“Most missions organizations have narrowed their focus toward large unreached people groups (populations of 25,000 and above). The reason is simple: it takes a lot of manpower and resources to create impact and see church planting movements happen, so a focus on reaching larger unreached people groups naturally sees bigger results. Sadly, however, thousands of smaller people groups (populations of 25,000 and below) are being overlooked and are still unengaged. So why focus on small unreached people groups? One major reason is that there are more small people groups than there are large people groups. At Within Reach Global, we are trailblazers and pioneers. It thrills us to fill in the gaps of the missions community, going to small unreached people groups that larger organizations cannot or will not target. Some of the ethnic people groups we target have a population of less than 2,000 people. We cannot imagine them slipping through the cracks of evangelistic efforts without a fight. We long to see the beauty of God’s creation as represented through every single unique tribe surrounding the throne in heaven, bringing their own style of worship to their Maker.”

The Holy Spirit is in our midst! The Kingdom of God is here, ever beckoning us to join the holy calling of making known His great name among the nations.

The idea of treating a teen for an “addiction” to the Internet may seem a bit silly. But as this video shows, it goes way beyond some kid texting too much at dinner. Debilitating compulsive behavior can be destructive in whatever form it takes, even if it’s in digital form. But while the fact that China’s addressing the problem head-on seems like a good idea, the slightly barbaric and harsh way in which they’re going about it probably wouldn’t work too well in the U.S. (and it remains to be seen if it even works there).

“Since my son started playing online games, he changed to another person,” one mom said. “He became very cruel. I’ve tried many ways, but nothing helped. So we had to drug him with sleeping pills first to bring him here to the Internet Addiction Treatment Center.”

“This generation of Chinese youth has no shared struggle, no defining life and death experience. In spite of the attention and material prosperity these youth enjoy, this generation is perhaps the most alienated. Today’s youth describe themselves as increasingly distanced from their parents and teachers. Browbeaten by unrealistic pressures to succeed in a highly competitive society, many retreat to the security of internet chat rooms or spend hours playing online games with friends. While many in the church are today awakening to the need to reach out in new ways to youth, successful models for such ministry are hard to come by.” – China’s Next Generation

Please pray for the youth that we are reaching out to in China. They need to know the power of God, and understand that he is wildly in love with them.

• We desire to continue being a strong voice for unreached people groups on social media.

The great thing about this available position as Social Media Manager is that you can be anywhere in the world to fill it.

Here’s what we’re looking for: 

• Someone with a heart for God, heart for the lost, and a willingness to help us grow our Christian audience;
• A one year commitment as our Social Media Manager;
• Spend roughly one day per month scheduling Within Reach Global posts.

Easy, right? It really isn’t that much work. It’s just that we are over our heads in other ministry needs, and need to find someone to help carry the social media load.

So you’re interested. Now where do you begin?

We’d like to connect with you and get you up to speed with our social media style and requirements. Here’s how to start:

• We will set up an initial 30 minute Skype conversation with you. We’ll call this time a sort of meet and greet;
• We will provide you with account information and make you an admin on our social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Youtube, Pinterest);
• You will begin by simply copy/pasting quotes, previous posts, photos and videos to our timeline/feed;
• We will be available for any questions/concerns you might have.

Worried that you might not know every detail of what’s happening in the ministry as it happens? That’s fine. We can be in charge of real time updates and events. The greatest help that you can bring to the table is to post photos, links to previous blogs, and missions related quotes that will be a continual stream of posts inspiring people to pray for the unreached and to get involved with this ministry financially.
