Hundreds of communities are enslaved by drugs and prostitution surrounding The Edge outreach center. Located in Myanmar, just outside the China border, this region has been marred by political crisis and social struggle. The effects of war are evident, and the most heavily affected are families and children. After realizing the spiritual depravity and physical poverty of this area, our local missionary family decided to move to this region to shine the light of the gospel to those who desperately need salvation. They have given up earthly comforts in order to serve the local people groups and minister to the poor.

After seeing the immense pain caused by drugs, prostitution, and poverty, it is our heart to open a drug rehabilitation center and children’s home at The Edge outreach center. This is a massive undertaking given the tight grip of a corrupt government, and we realize that it is beyond our means. But we trust that God can make a way when there seems to be no way. Through this holistic means of evangelism, we pray many would be set free from addiction and countless families and children will be given hope.

We built The Edge outreach center in 2014 as a home for our local missionary family, an outreach center, and a center for our feeding program and discipleship training. Our local missionaries are daily reaching out to over 30 children in the area. Still, with an ongoing civil war in Myanmar and continued political unrest—bullets flying overhead—the ministry has been affected. But despite the looming danger, our local missionaries continue one on one personal evangelism and discipleship.

The ongoing civil war and continued political unrest in Myanmar create a constant security issue for our local missionaries at The Edge outreach center. They and their children are living in constant danger. We need heavy intercession and prayer covering for our faithful missionary family. The Edge outreach center is one of the most dangerous outreach centers we oversee. Please pray for safety and breakthrough among the communities they are ministering to. Also, consider giving to our monthly need for this outreach center. $1,000 per month covers our local missionary family’s living expenses, discipleship and evangelism activities, and our weekly feeding program for the children.

Of China’s 56 officially recognized ethnic minorities, 26 of them reside in this region. But the number of unrecognized people groups in this area are well into the hundreds. We spent many years traveling and ministering among unreached peoples in this area. Just to get to their area would take 24 hour by bus. The rough roads, strong Buddhist presence and governmental persecution made it even more difficult to see the gospel take root. But we knew the heart of God longed for these people to come to know him, and so we persevered until 26 Tribes outreach center was established in 2009. Many methods of outreach have been utilized during the years of ministry here, specifically helping underprivileged children, serving Buddhist monks, manual field labor alongside local farmers, evangelism, discipleship and life of life care. Through the faithful holistic care of our local missionaries, we are seeing many more come to know the Lord.

We desire to plant thriving Christian churches among multiple people groups surrounding the 26 Tribes outreach center. Through the concerted efforts of indigenous missionaries and local Chinese churches, our heart is to inspire people to adopt unreached people groups, and commit to a focused vision of seeing the name of Jesus established among them. We host discipleship and leadership training with a heart to create Great Commission Christians.

A church for young working class out-of-state Chinese and local ethnic people groups has been established in the city where 26 Tribes outreach center resides. The church is now able to financially sustain most of their financial needs, and they are now also giving to help pioneer other outreaches. Buddhist monks in the city are a ministry target and are being served both spiritually and physically. Many monks have been given a chance to hear the good news of salvation for the very first time. Surrounding villages are being impacted with weekly visits from our local missionaries who minister to children and families. Many of them are now part of church gatherings.

There still exists a need for prayer against the strong Buddhist presence and ancestral worship. There are a number of young people who are willing to serve in ministry, but because of the poverty among their own families, they are forced to continue working secular jobs to sustain family needs. Poverty in the villages is a real struggle, and so many young and middle aged people leave the village for the city, leaving grandparents and young children behind. Please pray for more harvesters in this area. Every month we need $700 to help sustain our local missionaries’ living expenses and outreach center rent.

Exploration trips to the highland people groups in this region began in May 2004. Getting there was not easy. The mountainous roads to the China/Vietnam border were rough. But excitement burst in our hearts as we saw God at work among these unreached tribes! After a miraculous encounter with the “man of peace”, many more hearts began to open to the gospel after seeing life transformation. As we saw 20 young people give their lives to the Lord, we realized the need to open an outreach center. Evangelistic outreach and discipleship training began in the city, and after having an encounter with God, we sent new local Christians back to their nearby village homes. A breakthrough had come, but not without persecution.

Our heart is to evangelize and disciple people in our target people group, and plant thriving churches among their communities. We desire to raise up Christian leaders and disciplers who will in turn evangelize their whole people group. We truly believe in indigenous missionaries, and the power of local missionaries. Our heart is to see locals from our target people group sent to other neighboring tribes and beyond.

Despite local government persecution, tribal opposition and the presence of multiple cults, hundreds of unreached people have heard the gospel for the very first time. Pilot outreach center was established in November 2004, and since then 3 churches have been planted in this mountainous region. We are thrilled to see the 4 full time local missionaries whom we have raised among this tribe diligently traveling from village to village to share the good news in their mother tongue. Through this indigenous method of evangelism, many new believers have met Jesus, been baptized, and are now undergoing discipleship and leadership training.

Pilot outreach center was established in November 2004, and persecution of many kinds have continued ever since. Family opposition toward the gospel, insecurity about government reaction, and fear of the spirit world are a constant battle of the mind among our target tribe. Occult and witchcraft activity have been embedded among this people group, and the combination of extreme poverty and lack of education creates huge difficulty in sharing the gospel. We need united prayer to counteract the works and darkness and continued encouragement in the midst of difficult ministry. Every month, we need $1,100 to fund the local missionaries’ living allowances and outreach center facilities.

After a series of miraculous events, a college student at The Hub outreach center English Corner program dedicated her life to the Lord. After graduating, she felt God leading her to return to her rural hometown which had just been rocked by a magnitude 6.1 earthquake, killing 367 people. Her heart broke for the neglected orphans and underprivileged children in the region. The Holy Spirit led her to join a local church who had been praying for 2 years for more workers to join their ministry. A partnership was formed, and she is now overseeing a ministry to nearly 150 children every week.

At The Cliff outreach center, we are focused primarily on meeting the physical and spiritual needs of orphans and underprivileged children from poor families. We pray that through our efforts, many children will be raised up in a godly environment that has previously never been modeled for them. We hope to see whole families and communities come to the knowledge of salvation through the transformed lives of these little children. We also seek to establish a government recognized children’s home that is able to minister holistically to the needs of these children.

Every week, nearly 150 children are being ministered to by our local missionary at The Cliff outreach center. She has pioneered an evangelistic dance outreach that takes place on public sidewalks. The government has since threatened to halt all ministry activity, but she continues to faithfully follow up and disciple these hungry children by traveling to multiple villages every week. Impact on the community has been felt, and the parents of underprivileged children are now coming to Jesus. Boldness in the face of looming persecution has arisen in our local missionary, and whole communities are meeting Jesus for the very first time.

Our local missionary desperately needs a coworker to join her in ministering to the orphans and underprivileged children at The Cliff outreach center. The need is great, and we need more harvesters. We need more people who have a heart for children. The pressing need to open a children’s home is of utmost concern. But the local government is not making it easy to accomplish this kind of ministry. Please pray that all arrangements will come into place and that financial provision is provided. While we are seeking to open an official children’s home, we need $500 every month to continue doing ministry among these precious children. We need approximately $10,000 to establish a secure children’s home.
