Sometimes, breakthrough doesn’t look like a dramatic moment.
Sometimes, it looks like someone’s first prayer.
For the past year, Li Wei has been coming to our discipleship group because he wants to know more about the Bible and who Jesus is. He is not yet a believer, but week after week, he keeps coming—even though, for a long time, he was the only man in the group.
Like many Chinese families here, his family is living between Thailand and China. His wife works in China while he stays in Thailand to care for their child. It may not be the typical arrangement, but this is the season their family is in.
And in the middle of that season, God has been patiently drawing him closer.
This week, we finished studying Psalm 32. We talked about the power of God’s Word and the safety we have when we run to Him. We encouraged everyone to choose a verse that stood out to them and then pray that Scripture back to God.
One by one, everyone prayed.
It was beautiful to hear them use God’s Word as their prayer and to see their faith grow as they trusted that God was speaking and working in them.
And then, for the first time, we heard Li Wei pray.
It may seem like a small moment, but for us, it was a beautiful reminder that God is at work even in the places where we cannot yet see immediate change.
We often want to see the harvest right away. But missions is also about faithfully sowing—showing up, teaching the Word, building relationships, and creating space for people to encounter Jesus.
We plant the seed. God brings the growth.
We may not always see what is happening beneath the surface, but we can trust His timing and His work in the hearts of those we serve.
Today, we are celebrating not just that Li Wei prayed, but that God has been faithfully leading him one step at a time.
Please continue to pray that the eyes and hearts of those who have never believed would be opened, that they would encounter Jesus, and that the seeds being planted would take deep root in their lives.
There is still much more to the story and we are grateful that we get to witness what God is doing.
