Thousands Of Former Cannibal Headhunters Greet The Missionary Family Who Told Them About Jesus

Ever since I watched this short documentary, a certain silent hopefulness has come over me.

I am passionate about reaching unreached people groups, and Peace Child is one of the heroic narratives of modern missions. Don Richardson and his family’s passion to reach the headhunting cannibal Sawi tribe has resulted in a whole generation of transformed lives. What was once an impossible missionary scenario is now one of the glorious missions tales of our time.

Warring clans turned into peaceful friends.
Fallen aspects of culture were redeemed.
Thousands of people were touched by the grace of God.

All this occurred when the missionary recognized a culturally relevant way of sharing the gospel to this formerly unreached people group.

“Someday we will travel back to the villages and people groups you visited over the last 15 years, and they will welcome us as they remember your sacrifice.” That’s what my wife encouraged me as I sat there silently on the couch after watching this video. I was stirred beyond words.

I was nostalgic and hopeful.
I was moved with a certain inspired providence.
I remembered that the harvest is always hidden in the seed.

I know that God is faithful, and I pray that the many years I too have been trying to reach unreached people groups in Southeast Asia will pay off. I long to see the faces of those I have witnessed throughout the years walking joyfully through heaven’s kingdom gates.

Matthew 24:14 says, “This gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world, as a testimony to every nation [ethnic people group], and then the end will come.”

“People are still waiting at the other end of our obedience,” and I pray that you too will be inspired to join with God in reaching those who are unbelievably living without a Christian witness in the 21st century.
