Abandoning our wealth for the sake of the poor
This is an entry written by our Within Reach Global intern:
It's such a foreign feeling, seeing all the poor around me here. It's something you always knew existed, but never thought you'd have to see face to face.
Not long ago there was a man with one arm and one leg, who dragged himself along using a board with wheels on the bottom. I looked once and just couldn't bring myself to look again. Maybe because I wanted to believe he wasn't there or for fear that my heart might break at the sight.
Lately I've been giving to every poor person I see, because every time I see one I see Jesus and I just can't help but be reminded of Matthew 25 and the fact that people were shown to have true and false faith based on actions.
So how about it guys? Do we abandon the poor for the sake of our wealth or abandon our wealth for the sake of the poor?
